Manager, Merchandise and Canadian Operations

Location: Chicago, Illinois

This position maximizes company sales growth and profitability by managing merchandise item set up, retail, purchase order and process management for North America including Canada operations. The Manager is responsible for maintaining, improving, and training the management of these systems for Merchandising. This position manages the quality of service that the Merchandise Coordinator team provides to cross functional teams. Accountable for data integrity and accuracy. This dynamic leader will work closely with the Merchant, Planning, Design & Development and Operations functions.

This is a hybrid position that currently works three days per week (typically Monday-Wednesday) in the CB2 corporate headquarters office located in Chicago.


A day in the life as a Manager, Merchandise & Canadian Operations…

  • Responsible for directing and allocating work to Merchandise Operations Assistants
  • Collaborate with the Director, Operations & Strategy to support the Merchandising teams with data entry needs as it pertains to item, retail and purchase order management
  • Drive results by providing reporting that measures that the Coordinator team is producing a high level of data integrity and data entry efficiency
  • Manage seasonal omnichannel pricing strategy, tailor product assortment based on specific requirements for Canada and partner with Merchant teams to contribute to Canada sales and margin goals
  • Work with the Merchandising team on maintaining coding throughout the life of SKU for both the US and Canada
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Canadian product questions, processes and operations
  • Represent Merchandising in company initiatives and projects that relate to the merchandising item and purchase order management process and systems
  • Act as the primary point of contact for merchandising item, retail and purchase order management
  • Manage the communication of information to Merchandising teams as it relates to item retail and purchase order management including creating, maintaining and publishing user and training documentation for all new and existing item and purchase order management processes
  • Responsible for effectively managing a team of associates continuing their overall individual development and growth, while managing them to drive for results and meet company objectives
  • Responsible for onboarding new associates, ongoing training and ensuring scalable operational processes across all product teams
  • Create and maintain detailed business process materials, best practices and FAQs on the Merchandise Information Hub
  • Contribute to identifying and championing new ideas and present solutions by being actively engaged in Merchandising business trends and barriers to execution

What you’ll bring to the table…

  • Demonstrate understanding and aptitude for maximizing the impact of systems, processes, and reporting in order to drive inventory optimization and sales maximization through the assembly and analysis of pertinent data
  • Possess a complete understanding of item and purchase order creation, coding and the systems that support processes and proceduresProven ability to problem solve and effectively resolve conflict
  • Demonstrate effective training skills to provide clear and accurate information on item and purchase order management policies and procedures  
  • Possess ability to provide excellent internal and external customer service

  • Strong Excel skills and analytical mindset
  • 2+ years in merchandising, planning/allocation, buying or equivalent experience 
  • Previous people leadership experience
