The Merchant will own the design, development and strategy that defines the brand aesthetic. Their Category expert knowledge and innovation grows revenue to align with the financial, merchandising, and corporate strategies.

This is a hybrid position that currently works 4 days per week in the Chicago, Illinois office.

A day in the life as a Merchant…

  • Develop and execute merchandise strategy for owned assortments with a focus to grow revenue and achieve margin business goals
  • Omni channel merchant responsible for store and ecommerce assortments
  • Lead teams to analyze sales, competitive market trends and customer behavior to establish overall product assortment strategy
  • Accountable to product assortments driving a positive customer experience
  • Manage and direct operational execution and deadlines of owned assortments
  • Lead and manage all aspects of performance and development of direct reports to encourage professional growth and performance
  • Coach team to meet expectations, deadlines, processes to ensure the team is operating with greatest efficiency
  • Lead and partner cross functionally to ensure communication and process flow between teams is mutually supportive
  • Lead and present executive-level assortment meetings based on business and market analysis
  • Ultimate business owner of financials and performance for respective categories
  • Regular presentations and interactions with Executive Leadership
  • Partner with D&D Manager on vendor performance and vendor relationships
  • Direct the strategy for price levels, ranges and price architecture
  • Drive sku productivity through sound assortment rationale
  • Lead teams to analyze sales, competitive and market trends, and customer behavior to establish overall product assortment strategy
  • Identify white-space growth opportunities
  • Responsible for all product copy and details

  • Thought leader with skills to anticipate future needs and develop solutions
  • Experience leading a team
  • Ability to communicate with Executives regularly
  • Experience with adapting to diverse culture and customs
  • Collaborative and able to adapt to change

We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • 5+ years experience as a Merchant
  • 2+years experience Buying/Product Development/Planning, preferably in the home industry
  • Bachelors degree
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills that are accountable to results
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to influence partners and peers
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office and Google Suites
